Chad was born in Kansas City, Missouri, but calls Tempe, Arizona home these days. Growing up Chad got his start on BMX bikes, then began racing mountain bikes and finally transitioned to the road as he matured as an athlete. His most notable career highlights include winning the Sprint Classification at the Tour de Romandie in 2010, 2nd Overall and 1st in the KOM Classification at SRAM Tour of the Gila in 2012, competing in the Giro d’Italia, and AZ State Road Race champion in 2015.
Since retiring from professional cycling, Chad has shifted his personal goals to coaching, and sharing his knowledge and experience with those around him. His personal athletic focus has shifted to running and he completed his first marathon in February 2020 beating his target goal time.
With his extensive racing experience, Chad brings first-hand knowledge of the physical and mental requirements needed to succeed as an athlete. He is passionate about helping his athletes achieve their goals and reaching levels of fitness and success that they may not believe are attainable. 20 years of cycling experience provides Chad the ability to recognize a rider’s strengths and weaknesses, and with these insights he works hand in hand with his athletes to develop customized training plans utilizing Tenac’s Championship Coaching approach as the foundation. Employing Tenac’s Championship Coaching tenets, Chad focuses with his athlete on communication, cultivating self-awareness, goal setting, developing athlete support systems, and creating an Olympic mindset.
Chad’s priority is to help his athletes maintain a healthy and sustainable relationship with cycling/training, and the best way to stay motivated is to keep it fun and enjoyable – which is what Chad is all about. He works hard to help his athletes set goals at just the right height, and to establish the proper plan to achieve them. Be it breaking Strava KOM’s, losing weight, crushing group rides, or winning the World Championships. Whatever the goal Chad can help you get there!
